Now WhatsApp officially supports Bold, Italics and Strikethrough in texts.

For bold add an asterisk before and after the text. 
Eg: *Hello*

For italics add an underscore before and after the text. 
Eg: _Hello_

For strikethrough add a tilde before and after the text. 

Eg: ~Hello~
